Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Multidisciplinary Assessment Package

Medana Mental Health offers a comprehensive assessment package designed to enable parents, carers, young people and other professionals to gain a better understanding of a child’s needs.

The child is central throughout the process and as such we endeavor to put their needs first. Following the assessment and diagnosis where appropriate, a comprehensive report is compiled which includes advice and strategies pertinent to the child.

Our team comprises of highly experienced professionals including:

  • Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
  • Consultant Clinical Psychologist
  • Speech and Language Therapist
  • Occupational Therapist

Comprehensive ASD assessments consist of the following services:

  • Screening questionnaires will be sent to the family before assessment is commenced
  • Family will attend initial appointment to obtain medical and family history. This will determine if child should have full a ASD assessment.
  • Detailed early years developmental history.
  • Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2)
  • Speech & Language Therapy Assessment done by Annette Smith Independent Speech and Language Therapist
  • OT assessment and sensory profile.

Assessments often include joint professional working. This enables us to work together to formulate a professional opinion on a child’s strengths and areas of need as well as reducing unnecessary assessments. On completion, a multi-disciplinary team meeting will take place where a consensus will be reached. Parents will then be invited to attend a feedback session. A comprehensive assessment report will then be written and issued to the parents and the child's General Practitioner. Once the assessment is complete a Cognitive Assessment is occasionally required (additional fees will apply).

ASD Assessments are available at; The Tower Clinic (Leeds), and The White House Clinic (Sheffield)
